Recently, when watching the classic Errol Flynn movie The Adventures of Robin Hood in
the lovely restored DVD version, I was struck by the unusual look of the lettering in the opening credits. They were clearly hand
lettered and done in a very authentic medieval style, but with some features which gave them some extra panache which made
the titles particularly effective. One of those was the use of simple outlined initials, a practice very common in movie titles and
which we've used in fonts taken from movies, like our Captain Kidd font. Using the movie titles as inspiration we developed the
new Locksley font and the accompanying Locksley Outline font. The font is not an exact match for the movie title lettering.
The original lettering had some weird variations from
title card to title card so we picked and chose letter forms to get the best overall look. The result is really quite nice. Click here to download the working trial version
