What to Call Wesley Clark

I saw on one of the NYT blogs that Wesley Clark was  a frontrunner for a potential VP candidate if Hillary Clinton gets the Democratic nomination.

Since then I’ve been working on the best way to describe him in future articles.  Right now this is my pick: “2004 also ran and professional historical footnote, Wesley Clark.”

I know it could be meaner, but it seems dead-on for such a remarkably servile non-entity.

Plus it can be followed by things like “has thrown his size four beanie in the ring.”  Or “is polishing up all the tarnished brass on his uniform.”
