There's nothing like a classic. When a killer comes around a corner bearing a bloody fire axe, you know just what he's been up to and what he has in mind. Some killers have a special affinity for the Axe. Reverend Ralph strokes his lovingly and dreams of chopping wood to feed the fires that roast the toes of sinners in hell. Sonny Boy earned a merit badge with his in summer camp.

For the desperate victim who wants to strike back, the Axe offers some pitfalls. When it sticks in a doorframe, the moments you take to try to pry it loose may be your last. And when you do get a strike at the killer, never go for the back. Go for the legs or head. Axes in the back have a way of getting stuck in a rib and falling out at the most inoportune time.
