Next Fish Fry – Friday, November 4th

Our fish fries are always a great way to spend a night out and meet folks in the community and it’s already time for another one. Don’t miss it, from 5:30 to 8pm.
Plates will be $8.00 and include fried catfish, french fries, cole slaw, beans, hush puppies and tea.
We’ve also got great cakes for dessert.
All are welcome. It’s a great community event.

It’s Turkey Shoot Season!

It’s fall and that means it’s time for our seasonal series of Turkey Shoots. We hold them every Sunday from the beginning of October until the end of November, starting at 2pm and usually lasting for 20-25 rounds which takes about 2 to 2 and a half hours. Our location remains the traditional prime spot at the corner of Hwy 290 and FM212 right at the stoplight on the edge of downtown Manor.
We plan to continue to shoot 15 targets a round for at least 25 rounds a day and hopefully more, but with any luck we’ll be adding some special events as well, so watch this space for news on what we’ve got planned. Rounds are going to be $3 each, but we may also shoot some bonus rounds for bigger prizes for $5 each.
The specific dates for the shoots in 2011 are: October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 and November 6, 13, 20, 27.

Community Garage Sale – Saturday the 29th

We’re holding another of our community garage sales next month, bigger and better than ever. You can come and sell anything or find great bargains. Antiques, collectibles, clothes, electronics, arts and crafts and much more.
It’s on Saturday October 29th from 8am to 2pm at the Manor Lions Club. Garage sale spaces in the parking lot are $12 and you can rent a table and chairs for an additional $12.
To sign up for a space just download a a signup form and send it in with the appropriate payment. If you want to help publicize the garage sale you can download and print the flyer. Make copies and give them to all your friends. Copies of both are also available from the folder on the garage door on the side of the Lions Club.

This year ManorFest is going to be expanded in partnership with the Manor Chamber of Commerce and with lots of other community groups.
Provided here are the current versions of the forms for signing up for various activities as well as the sponsorship form if you want to support the fest by sponsoring an activity. All of the forms have been updated for 2011. Look for additional information to be added soon.

5k Fun Run Info

Here’s the rundown on the ManorFest 5k Fun Run sponsored by the Manor Chamber of Commerce.
The run is $15 for adults, $10 for students and $30 to enter a whole family. All entrants will get a t-shirt for participating.
Runners will meet at Manor Elementary at 7am on Saturday the 2nd and the run will start at 8am.

Manor Fest Info

This year ManorFest is going to be bigger and better than ever, with the Manor Lions teaming up with the Manor Chamber of Commerce to put on more events and offer more activities than ever before. Events include the Barbeque Cook-Off, Craft Fair, Bake-Off, live music, a classic car show, kids games and activities and much more. The Craft Fair has also been expanded this year to include a special Farm and Market Expo featuring local businesses and farmers.

Manor Lions Scholarships

High School seniors who are planning to go to college in the fall can apply for a scholarship from the Manor Lions Club. The scholarship deadline is May 7th and awards will be announced by the end of the month. It’s not the biggest scholarship ever, but it’s a few hundred dollars per year for 4 years which can help out with some of the continually growing expenses.

Fish Fry Report

The March 6th Fish Fry was a big success. In addition to the usual local diners we had about 40 guests from other Lions Clubs who were attending the Lions leadership training conference in Austin. They came from all over Central Texas and made a special trip out to Manor to enjoy catfish, hugh puppies, fries, beans and slaw to fortify themselves for some hard training the next morning.
This Fish Fry also featured live music from local musicians, which added to the harmonious atmosphere. We’re having a special bonus Fish Fry on April 3rd and we hope to have music then as well. Everyone is welcome to come and dine for just $7.50.
