Featured Idiot: David Icke
We’ve profiled some amazing freaks and goofballs in this column, but David Icke sets a new standard for nutty. He may be one of the most ambitious of conspiracy nuts, going beyond normal levels of delusion and paranoia to offer us a unified theory of global conspiracies, with all the various paranoid fantasies favored by others united into one giant conspiracy. Sure, he hates the Jews for being the secret masters of the world, but they’re just the front men. Behind them are alien intelligences which ontrol everything and have guided human evolution. But wait, there’s more. Apparently there are also reptilian alien shapeshifters from another planet and/or another dimension living among us, breeding with us and stealing our natural resources and feeding on our fear and emotions.
Ok, so Icke is a clinical paranoid delusional case. What’s really scary is that he has apparently gained some legitimacy with the far right political fringe and there are people who are politically active who take some of what he spews seriously. Many on the conservative fringe pick up on Icke’s anti-globalism and seem to get drawn into his whole rather intricately developed cosmology, including the ever-present clown prince of the fringe, Alex Jones. Apparently it’s just a few steps from the Queen of England running the drug trade to reptilian aliens using mind control to feed off of our life energy. But it’s enough for now to point out that Icke is as nuts as they come, and if you run into one of his followers head in the opposite direction as quickly as possible.
If Icke ever starts making sense to you, just remind yourself that the TV show “V” was a work of fiction and not a good basis for a personal philosophy.

Paul Craig Roberts is back on the top of the list of dunces for his heroic defense of Iran and repeated claims that the Bush administration was horribly slandering the innocent Iranians who had no intention of developing nuclear weapons. All of which has now been proven to be as foolish and naive as his equally ridiculous beliefs about the 9/11 attacks. Reports from the IAEA and IISS show that Iran has been actively developing nuclear weapons and that they have no intention of shutting down any of their nuclear weapons development programs. They have also repeatedly asserted their right to have and use nuclear weapons. Just being so totally wrong would get Roberts the nod as featured idiot, but add in the fact that his idiocy is motivated by his rabid antisemitism and he gets to be top idiot with a gold star.

I totally agree & mind you naive people read more psychiatry(start whit DSMIV & ICD10)books than Icke’s books to understand the nature of this man’s persecutory & schizophrenic delusions. But the fact that people would take this man seriously is VERY SCARY TO ME!(NOT CAUSE I’M A REPTILIAN HAHA).Now in the ancient texts you would find a lot of fairy tale ellements taken as real e.g. Homer’s works.

I agree with you about Icke and do wonder how he has acquired such a following. But the only people I’ve spoken to who agreed with him were far left of center. It seems possible that he has tapped into the fringe group that the late Robert Anton Wilson attracted with his conspiracy theories; lunatics who cannot be defined as right or left, but perhaps as simply the Lunatic Party. Is there such a group?

I dont know about alien reptiles and all, but if you all dont think that humanity is being controlled by an elite, global group, then you all are far crazier and deluded than Icke could ever hope to be!
Just keep your head in the sand everybody. They’ll come along soon enough to rape you.

I’m very familiar with David Icke. I’ve read his books. He’s got some truth and allot of disinformation. He does source his information so you can draw your own conclusion. Most of his nonsense is in religious history and various conspiracy’s centered around the reptilian brotherhood. Meaning freemasonry and the Illuminati. People should be very careful about taking what he says at face value.

As David Icke quoted in his work “The Biggest Secret”…
“There are undoubtedly those who will call me a nut for what I have written in this book. My response is: ‘Today’s mighty oak is yesterday’s nut that stood its ground.’”
David Icke has been ridiculed and insulted for over 20 years. So what? I’ve seen David Icke present and even had the privilege of meeting him personally. He is quite phenomenal and always presents his cases in a logical and coherent fashion, far more so than this other “Dave”.
The accusations made aren’t even close to correct. Icke never claims the Jews are the “secret masters of the world”. He claims Rothschild Zionists (which aren’t necessarily even Jews) are the problem, which his extensive research demonstrates have either directly or vicariously infiltrated every aspect of American society, including politics, education, religion, entertainment, etc. Try performing some actual research here, junior.
All in all, how does an “article” clearly devoid of any research and instead saturated with personal attacks and vitriol represent literature to be taken seriously?

The fact someone has a website called Idiot wars says a lot really. One of the problems we face as a race is over opinionated people that cannot escape from the small minded mentality of verbally abusing people and being offensive, there is no need for it, it is not nice.

Jimbo’s comments above are laughable. Icke does not cite sources in his speeches. he uses “they” a lot, he refers to “ancient texts” and he generalises. Sources he does mention by name tend to be people who have no objective authority in their field (he would say that’s because the powers that be manipulate things that way) or people whose words he twists to suit his agenda. For god’s sake – this man says that we are all just energy fields and uses the Matrix as a source of inspiration (see his lecture at Oxford University in 1998)! His monologues are rambling gobbledygook and ignore the basic concept of positing an argument and following it up with verifiable evidence. Finally, if what he was saying was true, why do these powerful beings allow him to continue? If they’re not that powerful, we’ve got nothing to worry about.

Oh – forgot to mention – he also thinks the moon’s hollow!

The thing that frightens me most of all is not the thought of inter-dimensional beings ruling us as Mr. Icke and the nut-bags on his forum believe, but the fact that one these paranoid, delusional rat-bags (sorry, “awakened” people)could be standing next to me in the post office, possibly armed and out of his mind on whatever drugs he’s “opening his senses” with. It just goes to show that no matter what a person might say, no matter how illogical and ridiculous, there will always be a cult of gullible sycophants ready to believe and fawn all over their new Messiah in some blindly stupid attempt to alleviate the banality of their mediocre lives.

I’m really suprised that the all-powerful reptilian aliens that rule us and feed on our emotions (lol) havn’t taken this webpage down that makes a mockery of them. Surely it wouldn’t be that hard to do…

I saw a clip of David Icke speaking the other day. A question came to mind after thinking over what he said in it. He argues that because we receive information about the world in the form of waves (visible light, sound waves) then everything is an illusion (which it is in a way I suppose), Icke claims this is evidence that we (and the rest of the known universe) exist as holograms. Now because we are only able to detect visible light with our eyes (and not those waves outside the visible spectrum) then that is evidence that they have kept us in a box (ie restrict our ability to see the real reality). My question is this. How is it we know about the full electromagnetic spectrum?
