Morituri on World of Warcraft?
I've recently started playing World of Warcraft and it seems to be a pretty decent game. It lacks some of the strategy quality of Myth II, but it's quite strong on tactics and does support play with groups of mixed units. It also has the remote perspective which Myth II had and full Mac compatibility - all of them pluses.
I'm guessing that other members of Morituri have WoW accounts and I was thinking of setting Morituri up as a WoW Guild to facilitate group play and maybe get to play with people I already know.
I'll send an email out to the crew - if any of those addresses are still good. And maybe some of you will check here. If you do, drop me an email and we'll see what we can get going.

Another Odd Suggestion
I don't know how many - if any - of the vaunted Morituri clan share my interest in strategy boardgames, but if any of you do, let me recommend a pretty amazing website called brettspielwelt (german for 'boardgame world) which lets you play a lot of the best multiplayer strategy board and card games currently on the market in a very active environment with a lot of other players from all over the world. Make sure to download the helper applicaton for your type of computer. You can play through the web, but using the app is much faster and more reliable.
Games featured on the site include Settlers of Catan, Carcassone, Tichu, TransAmerica, PowerGrid, Cardinals and Kings and scores of others. It's a bit stuffy, but a lot of fun - and it's the kind of place I'd love to see develop more of a sense of community, which clans might have an impact on. Maybe Morituri could lead the way.
Anyway, something to think about. I'm on there as Tentacloid - usually playing Settlers of Catan.

Alternative Games - Legion Arena?
In my ongoing quest to figure out new places to play with the ancient crew of Mori players, I've been experimenting with some alternative games.
One which seems promising is a Myth-like game called Legion Arena from Freeverse software.
I'm just starting to play with it and it seems fairly good. I believe it's based on the engine for Heroes of Myth and Magic V which they also produce.
IMO Freeverse ought to be convinced to purchase and revive Myth II.
Anyway, LA is only $40 and it works on the Mac or PC. If you give it a try look for me online as Eleusis.
It's even got an expansion pack called Cult of Mithras.
Reminds me very much of the early days of Myth II.
Another game worth taking a long look at is Galcon a fun but very simple online multiplayer space conquest game. It plays incredibly quickly, but actually involves a surprising amount of strategy. Well worth a download and try out of the demo. Works on the Mac and the PC, and has a nice free server to play on.

WW2 Map: Deluxe Recon
With PlayMyth offline there's nowhere to download some of the popular maps, so I'm going to see what I can do to get them archived here for download.
To start off, here's a link to the relatively new and popular Recon Deluxe.
It's similar to Kill's Recon in that it uses the standard recon map and customizes the size of Patrol teams to fit the number of players.
Not too original, but people are playing it, so here it is.

PlayMyth Offline - What Shall We Do?
The eternal quest continues. PlayMyth.net is offline, both the website and the server. Apparently from pure frustration and some business about people using the mail server to spam or hack or somesuch.
Supposedly the game server will be back online at some point relatively soon, but the webpage may be a long time coming back - which I guess is a less important consideration.
Maybe it's time - even past time - to start thinking about other game options? Surely there's something out there which could be an adequate substitute for Myth? I want tp play something, dammit!

WW2 Tourney News
Team Mori South (Dracolich, Bonky, Vegemite and Species) has already played their first Tourney round. They played Team Reich earlier this week.
Inside sources report that there was a great deal of discontent over the issue of Australia vs. US lag. Apparently all of the games were pretty close, but the whining and bitching was distracting.
The sad result was that Team Mori South lost 6-2, but although they are bloody and bowed they are not broken, and I'm sure they will go on to greater glory.
The tourney goes on with Team Mori North playing its first match Sunday night at 11pm Eastern, more or less. If you're on the team or want to be on the team, show up then.
Theoretically Team Mori North is:
Hypnotized
Whiskey Jack
Napa
Sneakers/Battlecat
But I'm getting nervous about having 3 show up, so if you can be there, stop by and we'll add you if we need you.

WW2 Tournament Team?
The pricks of what was once Cadre and is now who knows what are attempting to host another WW2 tournament. Lots of the older players are entering. It would be nice to see a mori team or maybe two in the thing.
It's basically a WW2 Patrol Tourney with some odd things thrown in. The info on it is at ww2gaming.org. Teams need 2-4 players, and we'd need to have any teams registered by the 31st, that being Sunday by my estimate.
Post here or email me at dave@fontcraft.com if you want to play in the tourney.

Where Are All the Moris?
I've managed to communicate with some past, present and eternal members of Morituri, but I haven't heard back from as many as I'd hoped. Where is everyone?
Silly question, because if you're MIA you probably aren't reading this.
So...I'm looking for suggestions on how to track some of the missing folks down. Are any of you in touch with any wandering Moris who you can help me get in touch with?
How can I spread the word that all are welcome to return to the fold?
I would like to see Morituri continue and grow, not just in M2, but perhaps in selected other games as well, but that's not going to happen if we can't get membership up, either by getting back in touch with old players or recruiting new ones.
Any thoughts?

Saving PlayMyth
Let's face it. If PlayMyth goes offline as they are suggesting, we're SOL if we want to play Myth II. Marius just isn't the same experience by a long shot.
So what we have to do is save PlayMyth ourselves. I have a two phase plan for doing this.

A Message from Kronin
Kronin's recent email about various topics including Call of Duty is being reproduced here for discussion
Hi Morituri and Friends-
This is Kronin. I sort of dropped off the face of the world for a while, but I'm back. I second Dave's message. In addition to trying (again!) to save Playmyth I suggest we should check out some other games for possible clan play.
I'm open to other people's suggested games and will try out any serious suggestions. I've enjoyed playing with Morituri, and hope to see you guys again.
