The Threat of World Government

One of the greatest threats we face as a nation is the growing desire of so many in the entrenched political establishment to give up our national sovereignty in the interests of globalization. The idea of a world government or global legislative authority appears to be extremely seductive to politicians and the special interest groups that own them, but it is a terrible danger to our economy, our traditions and our freedoms.

Here in America we enjoy the benefits of the freest society on earth. It's far from a perfect system, but we do have laws and a constitution which have worked remarkably well for over 200 years in protecting our rights from outside threats and even from our own politicians. All of that goes out the window if we give up control of our government - even incrementally - to foreign nations through the machinery of globalization and world government.

We can already see the destructive power of Globalization by looking across the Atlantic at our friends in England. Step by step, from joining the Common Market in 1974 through signing onto the European Court to their gradual integration into the European Union, they have given up their rights and freedoms to a pack of foreign bureaucrats and special interests. Today they stand on the brink of losing the laws and traditions which once made them the greatest nation on earth, and being relegated to a degraded position as just another subject nation in the socialistic quagmire of Europe. They are losing control over their lands, their means of business and even the basic rights of their people because their leaders traded sovereignty away bit by bit to advance their pet projects and personal agendas.

We are closer than any of us realize to suffering this same fate. There are politicians in power now who want to see us give up our economic independence to the World Bank, sacrifice our legal freedoms to the World Court, and begin a process of globalization which will whittle away at our sovereignty until we are just another subject state bowing to the mastery of foreign bureaucrats. We enjoy a level of freedom and independence few people can even dream of outside our borders. It has made our extraordinary economic success possible by encouraging entrepreneurial productivity and rewarding success. This system also guarantees us an unprecedented level of personal liberty. The system we have built makes us the object of envy throughout the world and also makes us a threat to nations which cling to discredited, socialistic principles of government and economics.

Because they know they cannot compete with us, the less successful nations of the world seek to control us. Rather than changing their stagnant systems and making their bureaucracies give power back to individuals, they seek to drag us down to their level and essentially absorb us. Bit by bit, using international business interests and ecological issues as their spearheads, they want to take away our independence, seduce our leaders into their fat and happy political machine, and make us just another subject nation of sheep grateful for the handouts passed down from our masters and stripped of the rights and autonomy which have made us great.

We are literally becoming the last bastion of liberty and individualism left in the world. We have an absolute obligation to hold on to our principles, resist globalization, and strike back while we still hold a position of power. We need to counter their ambitions with an active campaign to reawaken a love of liberty and independence in the people of all nations. We must encourage them to fight back against globalization, socialism and the bureaucratization of the world. Leading by example and using our power in the international economy we can export the ideas of entrepreneurial capitalism, individualism and personal responsibility and create a new revolution to free the whole world from the shackles of paternalistic socialism.
