Does Dawnna Dukes really represent you?
She recently moved out of our area into a more affluent neighborhood north of Austin. To hold onto political power she brokered a deal
to redraw district lines to extend a bizarre spurr of District 46 just far enough north and west to include her new home.
She ttached a rider to the TxDOT sunset bill to prohibit SH-130 from passing within a mile of any school, making it
impossible to use the more sensible and less destructive eastern route recommended by TxDOT, guaranteeing that farmers would lose their land
and that SH-130 would be a financial disaster.
She sponsored HB2440 to try to force an unworkable light-rail system on the citizens of Austin and surrounding areas.
She is an active supporter of racially biased preferrential hiring practices and racially biased assignment of state contracts.
She sponsored legislation to force tank farms and fuel storage facilities to move out of areas where they are already safely established, making it
likely they would move into areas east of Austin.
She supports legislation which would restrict development of low cost housing in East Austin and force many living in manufactured housing
communities out of their homes.
Her background is in prison administration. Given the state of our prisons today, that suggests she's totally
unqualified for any responsible job. In addition, she is a consultant to the prison industry and has a vested interest in
preserving the current system, building more prisons and putting more non-violent offenders in jail.
She has ties the the Vision Village scandal and real estate speculation schemes in East Austin. Rather than making her
district better she is milking it for the profit of herself, her family and her cronies.
Her father Ben Dukes, Sr. is a political power broker from East Austin who has been trying to buy his daughters into office
for years.
She's a big-government insider brokering deals and working against the best interests of most of her district. It's time for her to go back to being a consultant and lobbyist.
